RX Radio is a radio station– run by and for children - at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. The initiative aims to create a platform for communication between hospitalised children, their families, and the health services by providing patients with the skills and support to produce and broadcast radio programmes across the hospital. In addition, we are a project initiated under the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital Facility Board.

Joining us to reflect on World Read Aloud Day, we have Bulelani Futshane from Nal’iBali. Nal’iBali has been one of our longest standing partners and we have heard some lovely stories from them over the years, especially on shows like Books and Breakfast with Yusrah and Naseerah. With Bulelani we also have his two daughters Owam and Linomtha as Nal’iBali is also focusing on promoting family literature.

Mrs Deaf SA 2018 wants to conquer Kilimanjaro to raise funds and help deaf kids to hear. Tracy was born almost completely deaf and has lived most of her life with hearing aids and lip reading. At the age of 30 she got a cochlear implant that changed her life and now Tracy would like to share this same opportunity with children by raising funds for this life-changing procedure.
