RX Radio is a radio station– run by and for children - at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. The initiative aims to create a platform for communication between hospitalised children, their families, and the health services by providing patients with the skills and support to produce and broadcast radio programmes across the hospital. In addition, we are a project initiated under the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital Facility Board.

Linda-Anne is qualified as a therapeutic aroma-therapist and is registered with the Allied Health Profession Council of South Africa. Linda has worked as a volunteer aroma-therapist at the Bell Porter's School for Special Education in Cape Town, where she massaged children with Mental Disabilities, such as; Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Fetal-Alcohol Syndrome. In 2004 Lindanne started working as a volunteer aroma-therapist at the Red cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town.
They will talk about the benefits of aroma-therapy.

Johandie De Kock is from Parow Valley. She enjoys running, playing music and spending time outdoors. She is currently studying accounting in hopes to be a Charted Accountant. Despite dealing with Crohn's disease, Johandie's condition has been remission for almost 19 years and she continues to work through it.
They will talk about Johandie running the Two Oceans Half Marathon to raise money to #SaveRXRadio

Carol has comprehensive experience in nursing as well as emergency care. Carol was a charge nurse (with a focus on older persons), a surgical staff nurse and a trauma nurse at St Augustine’s Trauma Unit in KwaZulu Natal.
Carol is also a trained paramedic and was with the Rapid Response Team also based in KZN in the height of the unrest in the mid to late eighties.
She then moved focus and was a team manager providing primary complex care services to clients in their own homes. Carol has provided in house training to carers and permanent staff on the provision of complex care.
Carol oversees both facility and mobile services to clients accessing Triangle Project’s facilities. These include home based care, testing, screening, general wellbeing, health care advice and adherence monitoring, clinic visits with clients and relationship building with state facilities.
A fun fact about Carol is that she was awarded a medal for bravery when she was 24 for saving the lives of two fishermen in Wagondrift Dam in KZN.

A leader in the fight against cancer in SA, since 1931, the purpose of the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), is to offer a unique, integrated service to the public and to all people affected by cancer. It’s mission is to be the preferred non-profit leader that enables research with regards to lowering cancer risk, educating the public regarding symptoms, screening and risk reduction, and providing care and support to all people affected by cancer. Today we have Anthea Lewis from CANSA to talk more about this, especially since we’re in a hot, sunny summer.

Shaan #TheAfroPrince was born and raised in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town, South Africa. He started singing and rapping at the age of 6, and started writing his own songs at the age of 9. Merely at the beginning of his adulthood and this 28-year-old has already done so much by diversifying his talent with all his learnings and experience gained over the years. He does just about every popular genre with Afropop, HipHop & RnB being at the forefront, and he lives by one motto and that is to: "Live and Let Live”, #SpreadLove. Inspired by the likes of various great artist, Shaan has a very diverse yet known sound, and tries to connect with as many people as he can through his music.

Kiviet is from Makhanda in the Eastern Cape. Kiviet completed high school at Kingswood College and holds an Advanced Diploma in PR from CPUT, and has been working in the Higher Education space for over a decade. This includes at NMMU Business School, Varsity College, College of Cape and currently UCT as a Student Recruitment Officer. The role entails school presentations, career expos, qualification information dissemination by interviews and administrative work.

Jennifer is a grandmother of two RX Radio reporters, Hannah and Emily, who are 15 year old twins. Hannah suffers from Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and Autism. Emily has her own show, "Let's Talk About It with Emily, " where she explores current affairs and topics of interest. Jennifer has been an instrumental parent at RX Radio and has recently co-led with a few other parents the formation of the SAVE RX Radio Parents Committee. Jennifer turned 70 on the 1st of December last year, and has used her birthday to help raise funds to prevent the radio station from closing.

Chené is the Reach Coordinator at A21 South Africa. She has been part of the organisation since 2020 and runs their prevention, awareness and education programmes, campaigns and events. Her Department focuses on reaching vulnerable groups in high-risk communities and providing them with the necessary tools to decrease their likelihood of being trafficked.
