RX Radio is a radio station– run by and for children - at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. The initiative aims to create a platform for communication between hospitalised children, their families, and the health services by providing patients with the skills and support to produce and broadcast radio programmes across the hospital. In addition, we are a project initiated under the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital Facility Board.

[IN STUDIO] Sebastian is chatting to Elzaan Daniels who is a young aspiring actress, writer and director. She is presently in her third year of pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Motion Picture, majoring in Writing and Directing at AFDA, which is the school for the creative arts community. Her identity as a proudly coloured woman offers authentic narratives which symbolizes her vulnerabilities, and highlights her commitment to truth and transparency. Elzaan has also appeared on Suidooster.

Sebastian is interviewing Navarne Weeder who is the Visitor Experience Officer at the Childhood Museum. His journey with the museum started in 2021 when the museum first opened to the public and he has been working there ever since. Navarne has a passion for childhood related topics, and he enjoys being involved in a museum that aims to not only educate people but also help people to reignite the memories of their childhood. He is chatting to Sebastian about their Magic Post-Box that sends messages of hope to children at Red Cross Hospital through the station.

He was part of the 13 runners who participated in the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon to aid RX Radio.

The band’s name comes from the Swahili language, with the word meaning “to build.” The group’s belief in their calling as creators: to build meaningful experiences and connections with every listener.

[LISTEN] Yusrah engages with Adiel Salie on, the owner of Gents Pride Barber Shop and father to RX Radio reporter Kauthar Salie, has set his sights on raising funds for RX Radio, by hosting a Barber Competition on the 29th of September 2024. Adiel initially became involved with the station through his daughter, Kauthar who was admitted at Red Cross Hospital at the age of 7 for Nephrotic Syndrome & Kidney transplant. Furthermore, RX Radio will be the beneficiary of this event.

Olona is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Cape Town after earning a Master of Public Health Degree. Her research revolves around multiple chronic illnesses and mental health. When she is not immersed in research, you can find her hitting the pavement for a run. Olona is one of the 13 runners who participated in the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon to help aid RX Radio.
