RX Radio is a radio station– run by and for children - at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. The initiative aims to create a platform for communication between hospitalised children, their families, and the health services by providing patients with the skills and support to produce and broadcast radio programmes across the hospital. In addition, we are a project initiated under the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital Facility Board.

Sarah grew up in Cape Town and is a Foundation Phase teacher by training. She plays the trumpet, enjoys swimming, camping and being with good friends and family. Being around children and working with them has always been easy and enjoyable for her. Recently she became an aunt for the first time, and loves playing and spending time with her 8 month old nephew (whose father is a doctor at Red Cross). Sarah has been running regularly for ten years and this has taken a lot of determination and perseverance for her.

oabaloso Keagana Moloabi, was born and raised in Bloemfontein, he is a language practitioner and editor with a B Tech Degree in Language Practice from Central University of Technology, Free State. With over 10 years of experience in the publishing industry, Moabaloso has been working at National Parliament's Language Services since 2010, starting as a Language Practitioner in the Translation Unit and currently serving as a Senior Language Practitioner/Hansard Editor in the Hansard Reporting Unit. Moabaloso also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Intercultural Communication from the University of Stellenbosch. Apart from being a passionate social runner, Moabaloso is also a fervent sports enthusiast who takes pride in the achievements of South Africa's national teams and individual sports representatives.

Professor Wiedaad Slemming is a health professional, academic and researcher with more than 20 years’ experience working clinically as a Paediatric Physiotherapist, conducting research, developing policies and programmes, and planning and managing projects and programmes and services in a variety of settings in South Africa, England, and Wales. She started her clinical career at Red Cross Children’s Hospital many years ago. Wiedaad’s particular areas of expertise and research include maternal and child health and nutrition, early childhood development (ECD), child disability and health systems strengthening, and she currently serves on international and national technical and advisory groups in these fields.

Edward Keenan Jacobs is a South African human rights activist who believes in the transformative power of education, critical thinking, and ethical leadership. A recent Political Science Master's Graduate, Edward currently works as the Advocacy and Empowerment Junior Manager at Justice Desk Africa, a Human Rights NPO that aims to empower everyday people to understand, defend and access their fundamental human rights. He is passionate about the development of young people and has six years of experience working with young people in communities around South Africa.

Kort daarna het sy besluit om 'n veldtog van haar eie te begin #KeepRXRadioOnAir–Alhoeval die Maraton amper hier is, is ons seker Johanide saam met die ander hardlopers die RX Radio-vlag hoog sal vlieg op die 15de April.

Cindy Pietersen is a high school teacher at Soneike High school in Highbury. It was at this very school where she met the boys that we now know as the Brown Brick Boys. She played an integral role in the boys’ growth as musicians as well as guiding them sharpen their musical skills while staying focused on school. She’s helped the young boys navigate their way through the local music scene as they strive to be the next big boyband in South Africa. Cindy is a former figure skater and hip-hop dancer who has a strong passion for women empowerment and uplifting of young people in her community

Nandipha Gcora is a partially blind lady who is here to talk about her “Lunch in the Dark” event called “Walk A Mile In A Blind Persons Shoes”. The event will be taking place on the 18th of March at the SHAWCO A Section in Khayelitsha. The main purpose of this event is to put you in the shoes of a blind person for about 2 to 3 hours so they can see how people living with blindness go about their lives.
