Sebastian interviews Jamie Fredericks 20 April 2024

Sebastian engages with Jamie Fredericks who is a 21-year-old with a passion for all things radio. Her radio journey first started back in 2020 when she landed her first internship as a producer. She loves music, spending time with her family and trying different restaurants. Jamie is currently working as a Production Freelancer for RX Radio.

[LISTEN] Sebastian is interviewing Tsepiso Nzayo. He is a winner of the 2014 Beat Magazine “Best Comedian” and the 2017 SATMA nominee for Best Indigenous Comedian. He also serves as a magnetic corporate, public event and wedding MC, who skilfully captures and enlivens any event. He was part of the 13 runners who participated in the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon to aid RX Radio.

For our jazz feature, [IN STUDIO] we have Kujenga which is a seven-piece jazz band based in Cape Town. The band’s name comes from the Swahili language, with the word meaning “to build.” The group’s belief in their calling as creators: to build meaningful experiences and connections with every listener.

[LISTEN] Yusrah engages with Adiel Salie on, the owner of Gents Pride Barber Shop and father to RX Radio reporter Kauthar Salie, has set his sights on raising funds for RX Radio, by hosting a Barber Competition on the 29th of September 2024. Adiel initially became involved with the station through his daughter, Kauthar who was admitted at Red Cross Hospital at the age of 7 for Nephrotic Syndrome & Kidney transplant. Furthermore, RX Radio will be the beneficiary of this event.

Litha interviews Olona Mzikhulu 20 April 2024

Olona is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Cape Town after earning a Master of Public Health Degree. Her research revolves around multiple chronic illnesses and mental health. When she is not immersed in research, you can find her hitting the pavement for a run. Olona is one of the 13 runners who participated in the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon to help aid RX Radio.

Jesse interviews Gloria Veale 20 April 2024

[Via WhatsApp] Jesse is chatting to Gloria Veale who hails from the Cape Flats and is a beautiful mom of two. At the age of 12, she was involved in a gang related incident. At the age of 14, she became an anti-apartheid activist and got involved with prison for opposing apartheid. She then became a business woman at the age of 29 and has been a part of the ministry in the community for 16 years.

Yusrah is an RX Radio reporter and a host of B&B with Yusrah & Naseerah, she became a reporter when she was 9 years. Yusrah’s show has been nominated for the South African Radio Awards two times, in 2019 and 2023. She is reflecting on the First Lady’s visit to RX Radio, Dr Tshepo Motsepe.

Sebastian interviews Suzette Coetzee 20 April 2024

[Via ZOOM] Sebastian is [JOINED] by Suzette Coetzee – who became part of WAHL SA as an Artistic Director in 2004 which was 20 years ago. She helped develop the WAHL professional division in SA where they developed barber and hair-dressing training. The WAHL academy is based in Bedfordview, Gauteng, which offers this training in different regions. Suzette is talking about the work the academy does as well as a possible partnership with RX Radio.
